A: Weekenders are the high school students (grades 9-12) who are attending a TEC weekend for the first time. Weekenders will experience the weekend firsthand. Through their experience they will get to know more about what God has done for everyone through God’s son Jesus Christ.
A: Team members are high school students (grades 9-12) who have attended a TEC weekend before and have chosen to come back to put on more weekends for other high school students (weekenders). Together with a small group of adults, team members cook, clean pray and organize the weekend.
A: This three day retreat costs $65 dollars which is required with the application along with a parent/guardian signature. Scholarship funds are available, upon request, for anyone who would not be able to attend because of the cost.
A: Adult and student team members are expected to arrive at the church around 4:00 pm on the Thursday of the TEC weekend for set-up and preparation. Weekenders are asked to arrive at the host church on Friday morning at 10:00 am. Team and weekenders are expected to stay at the host church throughout the entire weekend and will be dismissed Sunday evening.

A: We encourage weekender to NOT drive themselves to a TEC weekend. At many of the host churches, there is limited parking space for TEC to use and at no point during the weekend is it necessary to have a vehicle. For this reason, we prefer for weekender's to be dropped off at the church by a parent/guardian or a friend.
A: There are no secrets to a TEC weekend, because the secrets are actually special surprises that bring excitement and joy for the weekenders. It has been said that if the special surprises were shared, some of the impact of the weekend would be lost. Instead secrets exist because of how team and others who love the weekenders plan surprise events in order to help demonstrate God’s grace in a way that each weekender will always remember.
Any parents/guardians who have specific questions about a TEC weekend can contact a TEC Council member who will be happy to answer any/all of the questions.

A: No, this is one of the differences between Cursillo and TEC weekends. Any student is able to go through the weekend with parent/guardian permission
A: UTEC is a ministry that yearly holds four, three-day retreats in local churches throughout the Twin Cities area. The website lists upcoming weekends, their dates and locations
A: A UTEC weekend includes but is not limited to: Friendships, Inspiration and Surprises. From the moment the weekender's arrive at the host church on Friday morning, they are greeted by an energetic team of teenagers and adults including one or two ministers referred to as Spiritual Directors (S.D.’s). The whole team works together to lead the weekender's in music, games, good food and lots of laughter to put everyone at ease and make an enjoyable experience for all.
Over the course of the weekend, six high school students on the team give talks on subjects like Who Am I in Relationship to God? or Christians Called to Action. The talks are personal witnesses of struggles these teenagers have faced and how God has worked in and through their lives. The S.D.’s also share insights, which spur conversations around each table. Tears as well as laughter are shared as the weekend moves on as a progression of faith, going through the despair of Christ’s crucifixion and ending with the triumph of the resurrection. By Sunday, weekender's and team alike, rejoice in the new life that Christ brings.
The only secrets of the weekend are special surprises that bring excitement and joy for the weekender's. The team and others who love the weekenders plan these surprise events. The surprises help demonstrate God’s grace in a way that each weekender will always remember
